Painting: What is the best way to remove latex paint from wooden furniture?

I purchased a table and chairs at a flea market and they were badly painted with a flat latex paint. The wood is stained under the latex paint. I would like to refinish then with a stain. I am not sure what would the best way to remove the latex paint.

You may want to have these chairs dipped and stripped professionally. While it may cost a few ...»
bucks, those chairs have lots of nooks and crannies that could be very time consuming to strip down. Of course if you have lots of time then go for it.

Gardening: Las Vegas Nv weed

My daughter just moved to Nv. She has encountered a two pronged pointed weed that sticks to and cuts her dogs paws. What is it and how do you get rid of it? They seem to be small petals falling or blowing. I don't have a picture , sorry.

If it is galvanized metal, full strength vinegar is used. Wet it down really well. It will ...»
react with fumes so be sure to have plenty of air and do not breath in! If the roof was painted I doubt it is galvanized metal. Normally galvanized metal is steel looking and used for smaller parts that would not hold paint well. But there are sheds that all galvanized as well. You will know as soon as the vinegar hits it. If no reaction, do not waste your time or money on doing the rest. If it is the liquid will begin to foam and give off gasses.

Without knowing what you mean by grainy I would think your meaning it is rough. You will need ...»
to sand the finish down again and re-apply a new coating again. There is nothing you can do to make the finish look good without re-prepping the surface again and start from scratch. If the finish is uneven, color blend etc, same method of repair still stands. However here is no magic cure or fix for this. Sorry to say. :(

Bathroom: Best bathtub refinishing company in metro Atlanta

I live in West Cobb (GA) and would like to have my bathtub refinished. I would love to hear from homeowners who have had this done and would recommend a company that did a great job.

Bathtub refinishing can be done to improve the look of ones tub, to fix stains, chips, and ...»
change color. However you must understand that the original finish on a tub is applied and fired in a kiln like appliance to provide a hard long lasting finish. The tub refinishing systems these days although pretty good if done properly and professionally, will not stand up to the same abuse the old finish did. So be sure you will take care of the new tub without using abrasive cleaners and by keeping the tub cleaner without waiting to long between scrubbing or the soap scum will become much harder to remove without the aid of an abrasive cleaner or scrub brush.

Be sure to check their work by asking them for several references that not only had work done recently but perhaps more about a year ago.. They will know for sure how the finish has worked out for them.

As far as referrals? You can check the contractor search at the top of the HT page or perhaps join Angie's list to get some reliable names.

Bulb plants should ideally only be moved and separated after the bloom and have died back. The ...»
plant after the blooming cycle rejuvenates itself with the leaves providing some of the energy needed for the bulb in the ground to develop itself. If you pull them out to soon, not only will the ground nutriments be lost to the bulb but so will those that are provided by the leaves. I would wait until the plant leaves begin to droop and die off before I would pull these up. While they may regrow after planting again, the quality of the plant may be hurt for a few years after until the bulb redevelops itself again.

Those paths are laid in a bed of cement and tamped down to make them level. This type of path ...»
requires a LOT of strong sturdy hands all working together as you have a limited amount of time in which to place down the patterns, tamp down and finish. If you live in an area where there is a lot of freeze thaw cycles although not suggested, you will need to seal the top with a clear epoxy coating to seal out any moisture that would get between the stones and the cement base. Be sure you have the pattern already figured out long before you start as you cannot begin to think how it will look once the cement has been poured.
