    if there are any soot stains a primer might be a good idea make sure paint is for brick/cement and that it will withstand heat if you plan on using the fireplace

does anyone know if you can also you colored paperboard? (cereal boxes) does the ink harm plants or earthworms?

are the battery powered mole spikes effective?

we are looking for something to keep the moles at least out of the back yard...poisons are too dangerous for the dogs (one likes to hunt them) and the others like to bring any they find into the house.

    i would definitely use a primer first, Kilz is a good one you might need 2 coats
