Another Ikea Kitchen Trolley / Butchers Block Kitchen Island Makeover

I bought this Ikea trolley on ebay and when my husband brought it home I noted that the butchers block timber top was all separating. Luckily for me, my neighbour who is a carpenter had just been involved in a new kitchen fit out and had some of the same type of butchers block timber in his workshop. It was covered in building plaster though. He said if I cleaned it up and gave him the measurements he would cut it to size for me so I could remove the damaged top and replace it. I oiled it using food safe butchers block and cutting board mineral oil (the brand was Howard's) and painted the outside only of the legs with a water based enamel white paint after a light sand and primer. The wine rack on the bottom was a road side find - it was in perfect condition and so I dressed this little cart up for it's photo shoot and it is now on ebay for sale. Hope it finds its new home soon! This is the second one of these I have made over. I also added a towel rail or utensil rail to the end of this trolley. I still had some of the rail left over from the previous trolley makeover, so I only needed to buy the brackets to fit it to the trolley
Update: This little trolley is sold.
Finished and dressed for its photoshoot
The new butcher block timber after a sand and a good oil
A hanging rail for tea towels or utensils complete the look

This is a cute little transformation, I was doing a search on making something like this for myself. Thanks for the ideas, unless you ship to the US :).

@Barb in Texas Hi Barb This little trolley sold. I have another that I painted the legs grey inside and out and it is on ebay for sale. No shipping to US though! These come up all the time on Craigs list and ebay and the like. If you buy one, you can paint the legs and sand back and oil the top (if it is intact) and add a towel rail and voila! I do think they look better with a little paint. I find the original look too raw and unfinished.
