Barb on Sep 10, 2015They only come in the fall. Them stink when you kill them and they will bite. In the past I have had an exterminator every year but it is costly. He said it has something to do with some crop. We live not far from several farms. They start outside but many get inside and it is very annoying. Any help will be appreciated.Helpful Reply

Z on Sep 10, 2015We use a spray bottle with blue Dawn dish soap and water. I just squirt about a half inch of Dawn in the bottom of a small (the size sold with travel samples) spray bottle and fill with water, then gently mix. Once sprayed with this mixture they just drop. This works for others bugs too. There are harsher chemicals that work, but I avoid them whenever I can. We get thousands of them almost every year. I have some pictures of them that we found when redoing the front porch screen, but for some reason I can no longer email pictures from my desktop and that's where they are.Helpful Reply

Z on Sep 10, 2015Barb, I missed your comment as I was looking for the pictures on my desktop to share with you to make sure we were talking about the same thing. Do they look like pale lady bugs or more the shape of a boxelder bug, only all brown?Helpful Reply

Janet Pizaro on Sep 10, 2015Ok I researched the situation. One of the websites suggested vacuum them up instead of killing them because of the odor. Put the vacuum container outside until they die and discard. Let me know what you decide,Helpful Reply

Z on Sep 10, 2015Here's a couple pictures so we know for sure what you're talking about @Barb. One of stink bugs (at least the kind we get here in eastern Nebraska) and the other is the Asian beetle.Helpful Reply

Barb on Sep 10, 2015I will definitely try this. I know they clean windows with a dawn, water, jet dry mixture and that doesn't leave a mess on the side of the house so I think we might put it in the sprayer and spray the sides of the house where they gather. It is worth a try. I swear Dawn does everything but make the beds! Love that stuff!Helpful Reply
