asks when he should cut his bermuda lawn short. I don't think bermuda should be scalped. You're just exposing the plant crown at the soil line to more cold. Damaged bermuda will be slower to green-up in spring. Leave the brown foliage on the lawn and put the mower away.
For grins and giggles: anyone have this on their bermuda lawn now?

Jack Frost arrived! Drive past any golf course in the mid-south right now and you are likely "designs" just like this on the fairways. It seems to appear more vividly on hillsides where cold air moves through and obviously it is more noticeable in larger patches of turf. Early frosts are "scattered", some soil temperatures are warmer than others and air doesn't move in a straight line so you hae a "space alien look" to the turf. At least now the grass will stop growing and I can find my golf ball in the Bermuda rough!

I have to take back the 'NO', I do have it, just not as pronounced as these pictures. If I had not seen this posting, I may not have noticed it.
