Sometimes You Just Gotta Leave 'em Be: Antique Sewing Machine
I know all of you here on Hometalk will appreciate this one! So often I see discussions on this wonderful site about what a shame it is when people paint over beautiful wood, and, though I am a painter most of the time, with this piece I made the decision to leave it be. :)
I got this beauty for a STEAL at a garage sale! Any guesses on the price? And, when I took it home I tried to brainstorm how I would make it even better, but couldn't come up with anything. It was gorgeous just the way it was!
Now, it was very dirty and the legs were all rusty, so it got a little cleaning, but, you guys, that is it!

This is the state I found this beauty in. Two of the drawer handles were missing and I wondered what I was going to do about it. Luckily, they had been placed inside the drawers!
Oh, and while we are talking about those adorable little drawers...they were full of stuff!!! I couldn't believe it when I opened them!
The sewing machine that came with it astounded me! All the details were amazing!
But, just look at how she turned out! C'est Magnifique!
Doesn't it look great between those two chairs (another restore project of mine).
Anyway, I wanted to share about this lovely antique sewing table here because, again, I knew you would all appreciate the fact that I left it in all it's glory. Some pieces look great painted, but some are better left untouched.

my mom's that she got when I was young ( I am 64) ( SINGER SEWING MACHINE CO. circa 1862) The top was damaged during the 1000 YEAR FLOOD OF S.E. LOUISIANA OF AUGUST 2016. I put a 2 x 12 finished piece of wood on it and use it as a side table

I have one like yours that I refinished and use as an end table. I also have the legs and was lucky enough to find a marble (candy making) slab at a house sale that fits! It also looks great. I had priced out stone, granite scraps . I was very happy to find the marble. Really makes a beautiful all purpose table
