5 Reasons why you need to stage an empty House or Condo
Condos or even houses, can become empty for a variety of reasons at the time that it is being put on the market for sale. So if the condo is empty, why bother go to all the hassle of staging it with furniture? Why ? You ask? Can't people picture what it will look like with their own furniture? Good question.
Here are 5 Reasons why you need to stage your empty house or condo that you're selling:
After: Staged - A warm & inviting space
The dated carpeting was ripped up and the hard wood flooring was exposed. The room received a fresh coat of paint and the room was fully staged and a warm & inviting space was created.
Before - empty & cold
1. An empty space feels cold and barren
Before
2. Empty spaces actually appear smaller than they are without furniture.
After
Furniture eliminates the cold feeling and empty space portrays. Furniture helps buyers visualize the use of the space better.
Before
3. An empty house echos making the place feel uninviting.

4. People focus on the imperfections of the space and not what it can look like with furniture
After - new laminate flooring & new paint
5. It's easier for the majority of home buyers to visualize how each room is to function when each room is set up with the intended purpose of the room.
After - contemporary furniture makes it cozy
Houses with furniture helps potential home owners visualize the potential of what a home could look like. Most people need help visualizing.

Houses and condos sell faster and for more money than homes that are not staged. So are you SOLD now on the importance of staging?

I suppose it all depends on the person. I personally prefer them empty because I decorate and design on the first go through. If a house is full of stuff I find it annoying and distracting. I admit sometimes a nicely decorated clean home is easy to take and I enjoy the view and appreciate the efforts but prefer a blank canvas most time. Another thing is, furniture and carpets can hide a lot of things you really would have rather seen first. That is from a buyers point of view of course. I am readying this house for sale as we speak and enjoy anything to do with staging and curb appeal.

Good post., thanks! Although I can usually visualize what the room will look like, I did find myself in a situation where I thought a room was much smaller than the spec sheet indicated. As long as the staging is done properly, it definitely helps. I have personally found, that the use of too many reflective surfaces (numerous mirrors, silver and glass in the same room) or knick knack clutter is a big distraction.

@Debi @ Add Value To Your Home The same is true outside too lol. A whole plaza was put in front of a Costco here, and the lot only looked big enough for one business, let alone many--optical illusion I guess.
