Revamping for the Birds

I found a pair of large, kinda ugly candlestick at a garage sale - $1.00 for the pair. For a dollar, I figured I could do something with them. I didn't even finish paying before it hit me- bird feeders!
I didn't need to match them, so I did each one very different. (I never do the same exact thing twice).
I thought I would have everything I needed, but the bowls I had just weren't 'it'. So I did make a trip to the thrift store. (oh, darn!)
The reddish one I was afraid was going to be a big failure. I had bought some paint on sale that was a 'no drip'. It was sooo thick, even thicker than chalk paint. The stuff would not dry. It was 102' outside, and the paint was still gooey. I was in the process of stripping the paint when my sister, Patty said to STOP. She really liked how it looked. I took a step back, and yes! I loved it!

Hi Jennifer, how lovely, creative and whimsical! They look like something one would find in Alice in Wonderland. Thank you for taking the time and effort to share your project with everyone. If I could, I would like to pass on some rather important, practical advice. The kind of birds who visit birdbaths and feeders can drown in water deeper than 2 inches. They cannot pull themselves out of the water. Placing some rocks in any birdbath that is deeper than 2 inches provides a safe place to land, get a much needed drink and be able to fly away. Also, people need to think about where to place a birdbath or feeder, especially short ones. Try for a clear space since predators naturally use bushes and other structures to stalk their prey. Several feet of space around your structure gives the birds a chance to fly away before a cat can leap out from the bushes.

Thank you for mentioning all that! I did have some rocks in these, but took them out for the photo. Same with the placement- I just thought it would photograph better there!
