Diy Pumpkin Topiaries

Hi and welcome. I wanted to decorate our porch for fall a little differently this season but didn't want to spend a lot so I gathered those old orange light up pumpkins and made these Diy Pumpkin Topiaries.

These were very easy to make and I love the subtle colors for the first stages of Autumn and Fall.

The wreath is new too and I’ll show you how I made that soon also.

As a blogger and a crafter it’s always fun to change things up and push our creativity to come up with something different. I have to say I am really happy with the way these turned out.

So for this year I went more subtle and I wanted to use a lot of what we had. For the Pumpkin Topiaries I went out to my garage and pulled out a bunch of pumpkins I had. The two oranges ones I found for $2.95 at a thrift store and the other two I found for similar prices and painted them white last year. The two little ones are from the Dollar Tree and I panted them last year. It seems like they bring them out every year so head over there soon and I bet you’ll see a bunch of orange ones ready to be painted.

This is how they look and they are Styrofoam and hollow in the center..

I pulled from my Craft Paint box and used Peach Chalk Paint, and Ivory, Brown, Golden Brown and White Craft Paint and mixed my colors.

Also I am now a huge fan of chalk paint as it’s thicker and tends to look better when it dries so I added some plaster of paris to my craft paint for my own chalk paint. I knew I wanted a taupe shade for the bottom that was close to the color of our house and a peach for the middle pumpkins.

I painted two coats of paint over each and with the chalk paint being thicker that was perfect. Here’s how they looked when they were done and drying. By the way, these light up orange pumpkins I see all the time in thrift stores so grab them and it doesn’t really matter if they have faces you can turn them around or update them by painting them white or a neutral too.
