Cold winter days find me in the sewing room. My newest creation is this 'Bird Pincushion. I have a tutorial on my blog with more information and photos.
Vintage Silver Gravy Boat used as the base for this pincushion.
Bird made from brushed cotton and embellished with buttons, pearls, lace and silk ribbon.
Bird resting on a linen rosette with wool leaves.

What a great idea! I read the full instructions on your blog and you did a wonderful description of each step with pictures. It is concise and easy to understand. I may have to fight my husband for the larger pieces because he too repurposes silver pieces along with silver spoons, etc. to make wind chimes. (

Love it!!! I'm a sewer and have been contemplating on making a pin cushion but haven't came up with or saw anything with a particular wow factor like this. Absolutely LOVE it! Fantastic job! Absolutely LOVE the design! It's indeed my style! :) Saving this and going to be on the look out for an old gravy boat in the thrift stores. Thank you! :)
