Thrift Store Sweater Turned Cozy Pillow

I love the look of those cozy cable knit sweater pillows that are everywhere this time of year, but I don't love the price tag. I knew there had to be a way to get the cozy look of these sweater pillows without blowing my budget.
I headed to the local thrift store, and searched the men's sweater section for a couple of sweaters in just the right colors. I found a couple of Large sweaters that were perfect. The pillows I wanted to cover were 20x20, and the Large was plenty big enough to cover the pillow.
After washing the sweater I cut off the top and the sleeves by cutting straight across from armpit to armpit.

'Envelope' type pillows are easy to do with sweaters also. I only hand sew so this option is the easiest for me. I opt for brightly striped men's polo shirts to recover for the warmer months!

Your project turned out well. I have a nice ivory cable knit sweater I bought for my husband, and he won't wear it. I have thought about turning it into a pillow cover, but for now I have pulled the sweater over a chair and tied the arms in the back. It sits in a corner in a bedroom. It looks warmer for the cool/cold months.
