Are orbs played out?

I like them but I think they're super trendy? Looking at lighting and I'm wondering if the more traditional chandelier shape is more classic. Thoughts?

That depends on how your home is decorated. These light are very contemporary.

I agree. This is very contemporary and I think it'll be around for awhile... Make sure if you change anything in the room to stay true to the contemporary feel - otherwise it may become awkward in the room...

Actually, trendy and contemporary are pretty much the same thing. They both mean they are fashionable in the present time. However, the orb itself is a classic. Though it's trendy now in light fixtures, the orb itself is nothing new. If you really like it, and don't have to be super current in your home decor, then go for it. Personally, I think a home mixed with old and new things has more warmth than one always current.

If there is something I've learned it's that decorating your house the way YOU like it is all that matters. Don't worry about trends - do what you love!

Orbs are nothing new, making them into chandeliers is, and I hope it's here to stay. I want my home to reflect the things I love, and I love those orb chandeliers!

I love the orbs I have seen at TJ Maxx that could be made into lights. They come in different sizes and they are very inexpensive, especially compared to the orbs lights you would buy in the lighting stores. You can also spray paint them any color you like. The lamp parts are available at Lowe's and Home Depot and online. Just do what you like, and if you make it yourself, when you tire of it, it will be no big loss.

Like others are saying, do what you love. That is the new way to go.

I love your chandelier ! Now those basket's of "orbs" pretty much ended up being used in kitten & puppy play. Even (adult?) guest's felt the need to juggle, toss playfully and enjoy the "orbs". Keep 'em around they are interesting, fun and can be put away and brought out for family fun !
