Are you asking about glass tiling?

Kelly, wainscot is traditionally a third of the way up, but in modern times pretty much anything goes to make it work around things on your walls, such as towel racks, TP holder and such. The height of your vanity will also need to be taken into consideration. Can you share a picture of the room in question please?

While there is no single standard height for wainscoting or bead board in a bathroom, the typical height range is from 38-to-42 inches from the floor. Taking the bead board up even higher, 2/3 of the height of the wall, is also a popular look. If you prefer not to go that high, Becky is absolutely correct that towel racks, and especially the sink vanity, are important things to consider when trying to determine height. Light switches are important to consider too. You don't want towel racks or light switches partly on the bead board and partly on the wall above it, and the bead board probably should be at least as tall as the sink. To help you decide, you might want to look at some images of bead board in bathrooms on the internet to get an idea of whether you prefer the more standard height, or the taller height. Even though you won't be able to tell exactly how high the bead board is in the images, you should be able to get a sense of height when you compare where it falls in relationship to the height of the sinks and bathtubs.

I am wanting to install bead board with a top railing in my bathroom and was wondering what the normal height is for it. 4-5 feet from floor?

@Kelly68zzz there isn't an exact height as both Shari and I stated.

I think this is total preference on the look you are trying to achieve.

I would be frugal and cut a sheet of headboard in half, horizontally, and use that as the height.

@Tillie Liukkonen has a GREAT point! I had forgotten bead board comes in 8 foot sheets so if you use the 38 to 42 *average* height, or even 48" (half a sheet), there is much less waste. If you go 5 feet, you will be wasting 3 feet of every sheet.

Glad I could help. The sheets are not as thick as regular beadboard and that's why I was looking at it. The room I want to do is tiny and I don't want to loose any space.

Is there an item in the bathroom to match a reasonable height to? Like the back of the sink or toilet? Reason I am saying that is, I like things balanced an uniform. You really could chose any height you want. This is just a suggestion. There really aren't any rules unless you are trying to do a counter or match up to counter height. Be creative!

How high are your ceilings? Some older homes have higher ceilings and would look better with taller bead board. This can also be achieved with the use of taller baseboards and chair rails. Run a length of painters tape around the room at the height you are considering. Does any light switch or outlet intersect that tape ? Are you comfortable with that height as you examine the room as a whole? If not, reposition the tape and keep trying. (Make sure to use a level along with the tape measure).

I had a home where I placed it up 42" so I could place hooks and my large towels could hang dn clearing the floor.
