A challenge to make useful again.
Top definitely has to come off.
Can we say major fixer upper? Lol
Small front face piece split too bad to keep. Had to take it off too.
Took damaged back of cabinet off also.
Trip to lumber store for wood. Was challenge getting all those nails out of that old wood. Was suppose to be easy, ha. Kinda pitiful looking.
Attached new wood pieces. Cleaned the decades of grime off old wood. Then, bottoms up. Everything fresh coat of chalk paint in pure white, Annie Sloan brand.
Boy, it's a table now and a bit bright, ha.
Tape, tape and tape some more :)
Clear wax in areas to apply glaze.
Then, I mixed 1 part coco paint with 1 part Martha Stewart glaze and smeared inside squares where I later added stencils. Did the stencils in graphite. Did a glaze (same as former ratio)of coco all over the orange for interest and to tone down the orange a bit. ..clear wax on entire piece.
And, this salvage is a success!
Another look at completed project.
Everything used for painting this project.
Another before shot. .whew!
Finished project. New life for this piece. .happy creating out there. . :)
