Looking for ideas on hanging fall plants indoors?

Question

I'm planning to bring a bunch of plants indoors for the fall season. Unfortunately, my home has limited natural light due to the surrounding trees, and I'm trying to avoid making a mess with multiple holes in the walls, ceilings, or windowsills.

I've been searching for ideas on how to hang numerous plants, but I'm struggling to find solutions.

Can any of you clever Hometalkers share your ideas for hanging fall plants indoors?

ok dont panic get one large maybe bakers rack which gives you alot of space. Arrange what you can on that. Then incorporate the rest of your plant stands.As for any of the plants you need to hang buy command hooks that will not do any damage and hang.

I'd suggest getting some full spectrum LED light bulbs to replace the sunlight they'll miss. That way you can place your lovely plants anywhere you want. 
Just make sure to NOT use them in the evening near where you or other family members are as they could change your sleeping habits.

Whatever you decide to use, add mirrors wherever you can in order to give them more light.

Looks like you could take cuttings of many of the plants, discard original.Cuttings will be growing by Spring.I do not have the room to save all of mine, and this works for me.

A few words of caution - I see a heating register in one photo, you want to make sure that is not blocked by plants so that not only does it work right but you also don't dry out that/those plant(s). How about buying some lattice and propping it against a wall. Then buy some hooks, durable of course; this might not hold the heavy plants but some lighter ones. There are like wire plant attachments that you can use to hang some plants on. Mind you this has to be durable lattice, not flimsy. Maybe some S hooks for pots with a lip. There are rolling plant stands that you could put plants on and roll them in and out during bad weather. In the garage works great too. I have an enclosed garage. Also some lightpost like plant hangers that allow you to hang plants on a couple of arms. These are freestanding also. Always some knobs around the house that's on a cabinet we don't use alot. Clothes line like devices work well also. Maybe in a spare bathroom tub that's not used. I am just racking my brain thinking of things I might do???? Thank goodness I don't have that problem this year. I cleaned out alot of my plants, got tired of moving them. Hey, good luck! Also a ladder, may work. Just thought of that one. I have one of those huge extension ladders hanging up in my garage. I actually hang plants from it. Anything with a hook. Whewww!

Open up your window coverings to let in as much light as possible. Then go vertical.  hanging plants sound fine, but you may find more room therefore more success with a baking rack or two.  They usually can be found on Craigslist and have 4 - 6 shelves that can hold your plant pots.  The previous post about dividing and propagating your plants over the winter is an excellent point for increasing your very nice plant collection.  Good luck and we all hope we helped!

For hanging, try using hanging clothes rack. They are adjustable for height and some have top and bottom shelves. Metal utility shelving works well too and can be purchased in SS, Black and White at Big Box stores. Bar stools work well for large hanging plants. Consider using 'Grow Lights' if plants are not getting enough natural light,. Reduce watering, use fertilizer, and keep away from vents or purchase directional magnetic vent covers. And yes, ditch the curtains.

Love all ur plants. I was thinking u could put up a ladder on each side of ur window and run planks in between each step. Just a thought. People are always using those ladders for décor.

Hang one strong rod from the ceiling joists. I used a copper water pipe. have someone put in bolts that go into the structure.. and have a large S hook hang from the bolts for the rod. then you can hang a several hanging plants.. each can have a different length chain to space them. I have done this. it is very important that the bolts are large, long and go into the structural joists in the attic. best if they go thru the joists and are secured at the top with washers and nuts. you need someone that understands building structures. my husband is a civil engineer and he installed mine. hanging plants are very heavy.

Mickie the problem that comes with hanging the plants is how to water them - I used to bring my Vanda orchids in and that's where my expertise is coming from. There is a resolve though. I used a plastic dog bath $ 8 or 9 at Walmart for the drippings and used a clothes rack just as s.b. above indicated.

Of course all comes down to how much space you have - I ran out fast inside.
So I opted to get me a 10 x 12 gazebo on sale half price at Lowes, fit just great on my back patio outside and used plastic sheet ( paint stuff at Home Depot) to winter proof it for Florida. I added several metal electric conducts ( cheap at Home depot) across, to hang lots of plants. According to your room size you might be able to just built something similar but smaller from water pipes instead.

Mirrors would help relfect the light that does come in the window. Painting the walls a shade of white would also help reflect the light more.
