I love holiday and seasonal decor. A great way to add a little decor to your home is with a decorative coffee cup. This Marbling process is simple and you may have the materials already at hand.
Materials:

Coffee Mug

Nail Polish

disposable/plastic bowl

Tooth pick

Nail polish remover or Alcohol swab

Paper Towels
Step 1

Clean the cup with either alcohol or nail polish remover. The cup needs to be free of any oils or dirt for the polish to stick cleanly to the cup.
Fill a bowl with water deep enough to submerge the part of the cup you wish to marble.
Drip the nail polish onto the surface of the water. Do not drip from too high up or the polish will sink to the bottom. To add detail use a tooth pick to carefully pull the polish into swirls.
Slowly dip the cup into the water. You can also roll the cup over the top of the water. Experiment and play around with designs and colors.
Shake the excess water from the cup and set aside to dry. Once dry you can add a clear coat or dip again. For more detailed instructions and video check out my Blog post on www.HandPArtistry.com
Use polish remover to clean the excess from the inside of the cup. Play around with different cup shapes and colors from even more unique designs. Hand wash the coffee mugs a dishwasher may peel the paint. Other options are nontoxic ceramic or glass paint.

Since it's so hard to get traditional Christmas ornaments here in Saudi Arabia I would like to try this technique with clear small round light bulbs and just add a bit more glitter dust. Do you think it would apply since the bulbs would be glass, will the polish stick to it too?Thank you for any info about this idea I am copying from you.Btw,beautiful creations, will try it on my mugs too to personalize them. Thanks again.
