Cottage Garden Thanksgiving Sign From Antique Mirror

Adventures In Junking
by Adventures In Junking
I am always on the lookout for interesting materials to repurpose into homemade signs. I brought this oval antique mirror for $2 from a garage sale.
The wood frame was split and badly chipped, which was great. The bad condition of the frame meant I could paint the whole thing without feeling guilty.
I use homemade chalk paint which adheres well even to smooth surfaces like glass. This project felt a bit like kindergarten revisited: sloppy painting, tearing paper, glue.... tracing...
I love the resulting soft romantic look.
After the paper dried I sanded it heavily to create an aged look.

When you use this paint on things you leave outside, do you seal them with something? Your mirror project is nice. I have an old chair and coffee table I would like to give a rehab to. I like this idea but do wonder about what the weather will,do to the paint.
