Garden help needed!!!!

I live north of Atlanta where we had a very late freeze last winter. We were told that no hydrangeas would be blooming this year since the buds were frozen but I have seen several bushes around this area that are loaded with flowers! Furthermore, my 4 hydrangea plants (3 are Endless Summer) have not bloomed for the last 4 years to the extent they are supposed to....I have maybe 4 flowers on each bush and that is it for the year! This year I had 2 flowers only on one bush. Now, they are all loaded with black spots and look horrible. What is wrong with both issues!?!?!? Also, I need to dig up butterfly bushes and lantanas & relocate them as they are too large...when is the best time to do this?? Our house is listed for sale so I wanted to get them out of here and taken to our other house before this one is sold so I may not be able to wait until Spring.

Have you ever pruned your hydrangeas?

Had to same issue and pruning helped. Did have a year of no blooms after the bad winter but pruned and got flowers this year. I have relocated my butterfly bushes and lantanas at all times of the year and have had great success. They are pretty hardy plants.

@TinaLouise Thank you! When should they be pruned? I am afraid I will cause them not to bloom next year but so far they have all been a huge disappointment & a waste of money.

The bushes are 6 years old and my husband used to prune them but I told him I was told not to touch them ever....so they have not been pruned for the last 3 years. The one hydrangea with flat white flowers never bloomed after the first year and it has never been pruned......so we've had a huge green plant for 4 years and not even one flower! I am ready to take them back to the nursery.

ok just wanted to start there with the pruning. Hydrangeas are pruned after flowering and only dead wood. I would try to amend the soil and see if any new growth appears. As for your lantanas and butterfly bushes you can remove them now just make sure you dig very large around the root ball as not to disrupt the root system.Plant them in a very large pot with a good potting mixture. Keep them well watered to keep the root system going as they may go into shock.
