Faux Wood Pumpkin

This might look like your average wood pumpkin, but it’s actually made from something entirely different that only cost $1!
I am super excited to share with you all my Faux Wood Pumpkin!

I had originally planned on sharing it last Thursday, but after my husband came home & asked me why my pumpkin wasn’t orange I decided maybe I should add a light layer of orange paint.

But I’m getting ahead of myself.

Although I’m not really sure where this story begins.
Well, first off, can you tell what my faux wood pumpkin is made from?

If you guessed a foam board than you are totally correct!

I have several foam boards that I used as backgrounds, & to bounce light off of, when I take photos for my blog.

I have had the same 3 foam boards (from the DIY Fall Acorns) for almost 2 years now & they are beginning to show some wear. So when I needed something sturdy to spray paint my Easter eggs on for my DIY Fall Acorns I decided I would use one of my foam boards, which I hoped would force me to buy a new one.
But after I finished spray painting my fall acorns I couldn’t bring myself to throw away the foam board.

What can I say, I’m a hoarder of anything with repurposing & upcycling possibilities!

Although I had been wanting to create a rustic reclaimed wood pumpkin for awhile, I knew I had no real purpose for one. We don’t have a front yard or a front porch, plus it’s not like I had a saw or anything to actually cut a pumpkin from old wood. Much to my husband’s relief.

So to say I was excited about creating my Faux Wood Pumpkin is an understatement!

All I had to do was draw the shape of a pumpkin with chalk on the foam board, cut it out with an X-acto knife, & paint it. I then added a bow because I thought it added a nice touch.

The only problem was...
