We found this curbside - it is very heavy and such a nice old 60's or 70's fan with stand. But when we got it home and plugged it in - flames shot out the back! That's okay, my husband took it off the stand, took out the motor (threw it away), saved the fan for another project. We taped off the top part of the fan because the controls were very cool and vintage looking. Put 2 cut-to-size pieces of wood for shelves inside. Finally, spray painted the outside and inside/back contrasting colors from Krylon MAXX.
We are saving the stand for another project. The shelf is now interesting and not too heavy to hang on wall. The same colored ceramic pieces really stand out!
We hung it above a table in our entryway.
