Just wanted to show you evidence that termites do exist and can cause major damages to a homes structure. The following images are of extensive structural damages sustained as a result of termites damages to a garage door framing. We first noticed the garage doors stuctural header bowing during the home evaluation and when the contrator removed the interior wall covering we were shocked to discover the extent of damages that these little critters caused. According to Termite Infestation Probability Zones (TIP Zones), Georgia is located in TIP Zone #1 (very heavy), which means the potential for termite damage is considered significant. Areas with higher probabilities for termite activity require more termite control measures to meet International Residential Code building standards for new homes than areas with less frequent activity. So the moral of the story here is to have a qualified pest control service to treat and monitor your home to prevent these pest from eatting you out of house and home!

The moving bugs at the bottom of the page made me cringe. I guess I've been lucky but now I've got to get under the house and in the crawl space to chek it out. Yet another reason the be careful how we store scraps and project wood in the garage. Don't want them to come over for desert and decide to stay.
  • In our area there are two types of homes. Ones that have termites and ones that will get them.
