Remember 7 weeks ago when I was looking for a funky way to line a landscape path?

http://www.hometalk.com/activity/57912

I ended up using bicycle rims that were cut in half and the ends buried in the ground. I collected bent rims from bike shops and removed the spokes with bolt cutters. Then I sawed the rim in half with a metal blade on my skilsaw.

I finally got around to taking pix today.

Good news - the dogs take NO interest in it at all!

    Very unique, interesting, and funky path edging. Nicely done.

    Where did you get all the bicycle wheels?

    How cool. Hooray for repurposing bikes. And Kevin, I think this would only be redneck territory if it were cut pickup truck rims. Rednecks don't ride bikes, do they?

    Very cool and sculptural. And another example of artful repurposing.

    I got the bike wheels from local bike shops. If I got there before the recycling guy, I could usually get 2 - 3 a week.

    Walter, interesting concept. are the wheels cut in half or are half of the wheels buried?

    That's interesting. I'm in a town full of bike dorks who build homemade bikes, dress up bikes for parades, play bike polo and otherwise find uses every last spare bike part in town. I don't think I would find 2 bike wheels in one week between all 12 or so bike shops in town.

    @steve, well rednecks will ride bikes when they have their license taken away and their riding lawn mower is up on blocks.... but other than that, you're probably right. :D

    Funky indeed. Re-cycling; it flows.

    Do I get any credit for suggesting half buried old tires (-;

    Kevin, I once heard about someone who came to Fort Collins from Cheyenne, Wyoming, and said "man, a lot of people here get DUIs." He said that was the only reason people ride in Cheyenne.
