My Current Project: Still Working on the Kitchen!

5.3K Views

My hubby and I are still working on the kitchen redo and I'm almost ready to post his latest and greatest! Has something to do with this outdated kitchen pic below and a pile of fence boards. Can you guess what it is?

Well, i've seen fence boards used as countertops (gorgeous project by @Shannon at Fox Hollow Cottage ), and I've also seen pallets used as backsplash by @Jaderbomb - my guess is either of those two!

    My guess is a backsplash!

Nice guess, ladies. It is indeed a backsplash that is so unique. Makes me feel like I have a beach cottage!

You can brush the boards with a wire brush and lightly whitewash them for a beachy look. Did some boards like this for a display. Sorry - no photos - but they turned out amazing. The brushing cleaned the boards and opened the pores. The diluted paint helped to seal a finish. You can seal with varathane as well. I'm totally into cottage myself.

@Kris Broughton My husband may have done that exact same thing! Not telling yet!
