thIS IS IN MY KITCHEN, CABINETS ARE WHITE, TRIM IS WHITE, WALLS ARE BLUE MANTEL SURROUND IS AN ANTIQUE AND BROWN WOOD. sHOULD I PAINT THIS WHITE TO MATCH THE TRIM OR LEAVE IT BROWN MATICHING LEATHER COUCH AND THE FLOORS THAT ARE TERRA COTTA NATURAL MEXICAN TILE?

    Would have to really see it to comment, but if you just can't make up your mind, wrap the mantle with white paper of some kind - maybe tissue paper since that would be cheap, and see if you like it better brown or white.

    I vote for wood 9 times out of 10. Rustic elements mixed with a clean white and a dash of color is something that works for me.

    hard w/I seeing photo. I would tend to leave the mantel wood though you might use online painting site to try different effects of a similar photo
