Tips for repairing shutters, please

by Angela
I recently bought a home and all the windows have plantation shutters which is a nice look, however several are in need of repair. Some of them have loose slabs and some of them will not stay shut due to the lock piece being damaged. I do not know where the previous owners bought the shutters so I do not know who to contact about repairs. I would prefer to do the repairs myself so any input or suggestions would be wonderful.
This is how it is supposed to look.

Yes you can buy new magnets at a lowes or home depot I recently bought some for a little furniture piece I had given to me and it was only a couple dollars. I'm not sure about the slats. Maybe googling or even asking at the hardware store would help? Good luck on getting them working properly, I'm sure with all the clever things people do and post about these days there is an easy fix out there! I would be the same way as you fixing them or I'd die trying. I LOVE plantation shutters! I wish I could afford them! =)

Shuttercutter.com This site is amazing. You can get supplies and actually instructions how to build your own shutters. I use it for repairs lol.
