Is it possible to remove old paint from a concrete slab that is the foundation for my deck? If not are there any recommendations on repainting or staining it? It is in Florida and there is only screen over the top so it will get hot and wet at times. Thanks.

You can remove the paint, however it may be a lenghtly process.First it is recommended to clean the cement, then put a paint striper on and power wash off.

1 DAY FIX AND CONCRETE WILL BE READY FOR ANYTHING.. JUST GO TO A EQUIPMENT RENTAL STORE, HOME DEPOT ALSO HAVE THESE FOR RENT. IT IS A CONCRETE GRINDER, IT IS SIMULAR TO A FLOOR WAXING MACHINE, EXCEPT NO PAD BUT A DIAMOND WHEEL. IT IS DUSTY, SO WEAR A MASK. I RENTED MINE FOR I THINK $50/DAY NO CHEMICALS, JUST SWEEP UP THE DUST THEN DAMP MOP OR HOSE IF POSSIBLE. I WOULD ALSO SUGGEST DO NOT PAINT THE CONCRETE, BUT STAIN IT. JUST LOOK N U TUBE FOR THAT. WISH YOU LUCK, HOPE THAT HELPED

@Melissa Franco Yes, It will even remove that black mastic they used to use for vinyl tile. and once your done I would again suggest staining the concrete, it is easy, less expensive then concrete paint and can be done so it looks like a new pour ( look on u tube for staining concrete) Also you get a greater return on your money( property value goes up over paint. If you have crack's or raised sections this can be ground down to remove this

Rather than trying to remove the old paint, I would pressure wash to remove any loose or peeling paint, than, Prime the slab with a good concrete primer and repaint with a good concrete paint. Much less work and you have several color choices.

Hi there, it's a mission to remove paint from a concrete floor. I would just paint or tile over it if the paint was well applied. As Tom mentioned you can use a pressure washer to get rid of any loose bits first.
