I'm from Birmingham, AL and my husband and I have found granite we like that we can buy at a discount.

However, we have to find someone to install it. Any suggestions for someone in the area that can install granite at a good price?

If the supplier does the template for the stone, then they should be placing it in for you. Having an outside person set this risks no one to pay if the stone cracks when handling it. The supplier typically gets paid after the stone is set properly. So do not pay for it in full until its set into place.

for someone to reconnect the sink or set the stove if its built in? If so any home improvement or handy man type of contractor can remove the plumbing and prep the counters for the new slab of stone.

Right on target Woodbridge! From counter tops to carpet, be sure the installer and the supplier are, if not the same, at least sufficiently connected (an installer approved by the supplier, for example) so that if something goes wrong you are not the one in the middle. "The problem was with the material!!!" "No, man, your installer just didn't know what he was doing." They point fingers and you're out the money.
