If the supplier does the template for the stone, then they should be placing it in for you. Having an outside person set this risks no one to pay if the stone cracks when handling it. The supplier typically gets paid after the stone is set properly. So do not pay for it in full until its set into place.

From counter tops to carpet, be sure the installer and the supplier are, if not the same, at least sufficiently connected (an installer approved by the supplier,for example) so that if something goes wrong you are not the one in the middle.
