She Was Beaten but Came Back More Beautiful Than Ever

This beautiful oak table came to me from a friend who had it with 9 children in the family. They had really loved her to the bone. What her makeover did to her is spitacular!
diamond in the rough
here she is all rough and beat up begging to made to shine again. I started with an orbit sander and lightly sanded her. I did not take her to the raw wood since I was going to be painting her. I did use krud kutter to clean her really good (I find it at walmart for about $10 bucks and a bottle lasts for several projects) once cleaned make sure to spray down with water and air dry.
Buffing to sparkling beginning
I then used rustoleums epoxy spray in a grey on the top, then the magic happened. I used on the top I use white ning, lemon kiss, midnights blackness, and dragons belly on the top. ( which you can purchase at www.unicornspit.com) I applied this on in lines swiped from side to side with my hand adding more color as I felt it needed. ( very very simple to use). I then let this all dry and sealed it with tung oil finish found at lowes for $10 (also asts for several projects.
she was feeling a bit celtic
Once that was dry I brought her inside to add a touch of spirit to her. I used a big stock pot to draw the circle on the knot and free hand drew the rest. I used black paint from lowes ( I bought a pint so about $10 which I used as well for her gorgeous curvy legs and drawer) I have tons of the black paint left as well. Once the top was dry I used minwax polyurethane fast drying about $11 a pint from Lowes. (oil based for unicorn spit since it is a waterbased product) and applied this with a foam brush I put 5 coats since her top will be used a lot. to seal her.
look at those legs
I then put 3 coats of the black paint on her body and legs (and boy did she sparkle then and primp! ) I sealed the base with same poly but 4 coats on them.
I feel pretty but need one adjustment
At this stage I thought she was done but something about her make over was just not right. (the gray lip on the top was too much it was throwing off her beautiful curvy legs. SOOOO I gave her one more touch up.....AND
Now i'm a DIAMOND!
Once i painted the trim black 3 coats and sealed her with the poly 4 times I felt she was all complete.
She is now residing in her new home with many other of her celtic friend who have enjoyed a great makeover! I hope you all enjoy her as much as I did creating her.
