Are you sure there are voles and not moles?

I know they are VOLES because I have a small pond and find a dead one once in a while.

I have tried smoke bombs, castor oil granulars, Mole and Vole liquid repellent ( no longer have the bottle to give ingredients) pinwheels, moth balls, soapy amonia.

@Roz Wenzel Ok I understand your frustration, however please be respectful when you are asked a question? We are trying to help you. It is often mis judged when it comes to these critters. There are a lot of websites to research so at this time that is my suggestion.

You asked me what I have used and I listed them. In what way am I not "respectiful" If you don't have an answer for me, just say so.

Roz, I am in the same boat and have tried almost all of the same remedies with no success. We have a local "Critter Ridder" service that advertises success with all of your pest removal needs. I called them and the owner said "Oh...voles...I'm so sorry ma'am but we cant get rid of those". Sigh.

I have found the wax based rat and mouse baits keep them at a tolerable level. It has grains mixed into the wax so the weather does not destroy the poison. We have all kinds of birds, squirrels etc. and they do not seem to eat it. I cut the bait into small chunks and stick it into the voles tunnel openings, that way there is less chance of something else eating it. The voles carry it into their burrows and eat it. The neighbors do not use anything to kill the voles so even if I get rid of them in my yard short term, the neighbors voles move right in. So I have to do this multiple times throughout the year.

Chocolate X-lax placed in their holes and then cover back up. they eat it then dehydrate with diarrhea then die. This is a solution for moles, imagine would also work for your problem. Google it to find more info.

The vibrating pinwheels ran the voles in our yard off.
