Thrifted Cookie Jar Revamp: Halloween Haunted House Decor!

When I found this chipped, cracked, tossed-away cookie jar at the thrift store, I decided that it deserved a second chance- as a Haunted House for my Halloween mantel display! A little paint...a little air-dry clay...and it went from ho-hum to spooky-cute!
There it was in the thrift store- $3, chipped, cracked, and unwanted. That is, until I snapped it up!
For it's spooky transformation, I first spray painted it grey.
And painted the roof shingles black.
Then, I used a bamboo skewer (or toothpick) to drag thin lines of black paint in between each brick to add definition and contrast.
After that, I painted the window panes as if a fire were burning inside...
Now...I had to deal with the little cookie jar people- the gal in the doorway, and the guy in the upstairs window.
So I used some air dry clay (available on Amazon and in some crafty stores) to cover her up as a ghost!
The last step was to cover the boy on the roof, so I used more air dry clay and created a jack-o-lantern!
And I also made clay shutters for the side windows, which I glued on askew.
Cute before and after shot- Boo! :)
