Ghostly Mason Jar

Have you tried etching glass? It's a wonderful technique for Halloween projects like this Ghostly Mason Jar.
Supplies: Ball(R) Canning Purple Heritage Jar (quart size), DecoArt Easy Etch, a vinyl ghost outline, firefly lights, ribbon, a faux pumpkin and hot glue.
Step 1: Add vinyl. Tip: Your local craft store probably has a die cut center. You can buy a single sheet of vinyl at the store and use their die cut center to cut out any shape they have.
Step 2: Add Easy Etch, following instructions on jar. I left the Easy Etch on for 20 minutes.
Step 3: Scrape off the Easy Etch and put it back in the jar (it's reusable!)
Step 4: Add some ribbon around the rim of the jar.
Step 5: Put firefly lights inside and glue a faux pumpkin on top!
Now you have a BOO-tiful jar!

If you don't have access to a die cutter, here's an easy hack: Find a clip art you like online -- keep it simple -- and print it out on your computer in the size you want. Buy a roll of adhesive vinyl (Contact) -- they usually have it at the Dollar Tree. Cut out a piece that will mask one side of the jar. Trim the print out to about an inch of the image. Using a glue stick, adhere it to the vinyl. Let it set. Using an exacto knife or box cutter, cut out your shape and peel it off. Smooth down the cut edges. Now etch as per the instructions.

Relief. That is a contemporary mason jar. It would be sad doing that to a vintage.
