remove it. I received alot of suggestions here. it wasnt as bad as we anticipated, but bad enough and never want to do it again:)
before the brick came down.
when all was done ,left with paneling .and alot of dust:)

    but all of this work is worth it in the end....you just stepped out of 1980 into the 21st century

    We removed a wood stove in the house we bought and just dry walled over the brick. The ceiling was 12 foot high and I couldn't see doing all that work. No one would know the brick is back there.

      Smart on your part. Styles will change again, and another owner might want that brick.
