DIY Faux Wall Gate

The shabby chic wall gate look is on trend right now but buying a set brand new can get pricey. Learn how to make your own with {2} $6 pieces of rubber.
It's really quite simple....
The project starts with these 2 rubber mats from Ross {$5.99 each}.
I painted both with white chalk paint.
Once the chalk paint dried, I spray painted the mats with Rust-Oleum's flat white. I then used the blade of my scissors to distress the mats. Once I was happy with the results, I wiped the mats down and sealed with Mod Podge.
The finishing touch was two gate style handles I found on Etsy. The handles add an authentic vibe, don't you think?
To hang, cut small pieces of industrial strength velcro and secure to the back of the mats. Place the velcro throughout the mats to prevent sagging, then secure to the wall.

The result? Two shabby chic wall gates that look like they were store bought!
