I have two florida peach trees, a florida bell and a tropic snow.

Both seem to be in bloom right now, in December. Is late fall the appropriate bloom time for Florida Peaches or am I doing something wrong.

We even have a few peach trees in bloom in North Carolina this week. It often happens when there is an extended period of warm weather in the fall. They will be hurt by cold weather. It will be interesting to see if your trees do produce fruit.

If you've got some possible peaches coming in, what are you complaining about?

Your trees are ahead of schedule, Delia. If the weather, however, cooperates, you may have the earliest peaches in the state. The biggest danger is when there are open blossoms and young fruit, but if temperatures don't fall below 28 you should be OK.

I have early blooms this too. They don't look to be as healthy as after we prune the trees in Jan. If we prune them in Jan.2012 will we have a 2012 crop?

They would have to bloom again, Jake. If fruit sets from the earlier blooms, you would be pruning it off.
