Melting Into a Little Christmas Tree!

This project did that a few tries to figure out. My first try was "LIVE" on a Periscope DIY demo video! UGH! It failed.
I remembered doing a craft as a child with white placemats, crayons and an iron. I wanted to recreate the idea with a grownup version.
A white snowy christmas tree shape on burlap. I learned a few things.
It's easier for children to take the paper off a crayon than it is for me.
You have to buy at least a 24 count box of crayons to get a white one.
There's a big difference in crayon prices.

First I tried to grade a crayon like cheese. Don't bother. Chop them like carrots instead!
Chopped to about the size of oatmeal.
Sprinkled on burlap.
Melted! I like the look of lumpy. Click the link to the website to see the melting steps.
Close up of the melt.
I glued the burlap to scrap wood painted white with distressed edges. A glitter star was added on top.

I think you can order any amount of any color crayon directly from the Crayola factory in Pennsylvania. I visited there ten years ago or so and you could at that time. Good luck!

I did something like this! I got my crayons from the Hallmark store! They were 20 for a $1. Love this, super cute!
    • @Kris10kay I didn't even realize Hallmark still has stores! I live in a small town. Would love to see your project. Have a wonderful holiday.
