Turn a boring retaining wall into an exciting safe water feature

2.9K Views
How do you add pizzazz to a normally boring retaining wall? Install a pondless water feature. Yes Pondless, this mean that the water is underground and in a safe area where children can't access it. This pondless waterfall was built in 2004 while we were renovating this backyard and pool area. This family had a new born child, and wanted thie sights and sound of a waterfall, but it had to be safe. By creating the reservoir for the water underground with an Aquavault and aquablox, we can store 500 gallons of water to be used for this waterfall.
The waterfall is made of Moss Rocks and Mexican beach pebbles, there are procumben junipers and dwarf cypress along the edges to soften the hardness of the boulders and retaining wall.
This project was awarded a merit trophy in 2004 by the Northeast spa and pool association. It was designed and built by the Deck and Patio Company in Huntington Station New York. www.deckandpatio.com

I love what you did to this originally "bland" retaining wall. Makes me wish I had a retaining wall, just so this could be done to it.
