I have collected a bunch of those clam shell types with indentations for each piece of fruit...looking for ideas other than holiday ornament storage or drawer organization. Especially interested in kids' crafts, collage, mosaics.

I'd be interested in this, too. I have a few, but no idea what to do with them.

For kids crafts, you could put different colour paints in each well, or different beads and glitter when painting or making jewelry. You could plant seedlings. You could make flowers. Here are some great ideas: https://repurposeful.wordpress.com/2009/02/24/repurposing-repeat-offendors-plastic-fruit-containers/

Actually meant what type of craft kids could make from it, even if it means cutting them up. Your idea is good, but my kids are grown!

@recycler I'm not sure what you are asking then, as you did say " Especially interested in kids' crafts, collage, mosaics."

thanks Becky. Meant that I would like ideas on using this type of material in order to make a new kids craft...re-purposing....like I use toilet paper rolls cut up to make tree ornaments.

good ideas for those plastic boxes, B. Enne, ... however...I have pre-formed plastic clamshells that have concave openings for each piece of fruit...the type that Costco sells fruit in. I have given them to friends and one ornament goes in each "hole" so they are safe and easy to store after the holidays.

You can use them to store fragile Christmas ornament, just pretty up the outside

I came up with my own ideas! Just started to experiment...
