Late February is still a good time to prune fruit trees in Johnston County. I prune mine back when I see the peach trees in the NCSU test plots on Highway 70 in Garner get pruned.

Not all friut trees are pruned alike. Master Gardeners with your local county extension office will have plant fact sheets and will talk to you about the best time and way to prune. They will give you the link to the university in your state that provides all the horticultural information virtually any guestion, even farming ones, pest control, fertilizer...

North Carolina State University, www.ces.ncsu.edu/depts/hort/comsumer. Or since I am not sure how to post a link, just google NCSU plant fact sheets or NCSU Horticultural dept. Good luck.
