What a great house! A heritage/historical blue would be nice...sort of a denim or water tones: like BM HC-148-156.

Maybe live with your exisiting colors for awhile until you are settled in. Take your time and enjoy for now.
  • I would paint both floors a similar color to the siding, except a shade or so darker. I would pick a beige color with grey undertones, not yellow, or if you know the paint color used for the siding, choose a darker color than it on the swatch. That way it will coordinate, but not match, and you don't want a floor too light in color. The door is cute, but I would add a couple more pops of yellow on the porch to tie in the color. How about a yellow porch swing? ;) And I think the back house and deck should match the front. :) Hope this helps! Your house is adorable!

I have looked at your home for two days. May I suggest you use the internet to search and compare colors on different homes...google it till you get the correct sites that will help you. Pin the one's you like. In addition, drive through neighborhoods and look at the colors of different homes. PLEASE, do not be in a hurry as one person has already stated. One more thing and I have done this. Buy inexpensive poster boards. They are $1.00 at dollar stores. Then, go to a craft store and by several colors of acrylic paint. Most are $1.00 each. Paint a board or boards, let dry. Tape it to your wall, your door, your porch floor, your shutters, etc. Do one at a time. Live with each one for 3-4 days. This process will save you time, money and frustration!

I'd like to throw in my vote for 2 shades darker than siding. before reading the other answers, my thought was a grayish brown, so that about it. If you only go shade darker, it will not give enough contrast. Your home looks very nice. This will finish the porches nicely and give an even more polished look

Are the shingles grey or blue? I would match the shingles.
  • Daisye Daisye on Nov 14, 2015
The shingles are a grey. Here's a pic of the side of the house. What color does the siding look to you all?
  • Roberta Roberta on Nov 15, 2015
Siding looks like it's beige/taupe. Two shades darker of whatever color it is, and put it on both porches, for uniformity.

@Roberta what other (shutter) color do you think would look good with the siding? Thanks for your input. :)

My very favorite, classy home look is a crisp combo: taupe siding; black shutters, white trim. Decks would then be dark brown. If your current siding is close to the taupe color, go for it. If it is more towards the yellow, just freshen up the current color, or use Armour All to shine them up/renew them.

It's really a personal preference as to what colors to paint your front porch. I do love how in Louisiana they paint the underside of the porch roof a pale blue.
