  • Maybe... The catch with LEDS & why they now have LED compatible versions is due to the low voltage draw. If the lowest a dimmer allows out is 5w & the bulb only pulls that much you won't see a difference. In some cases I have heard the LEDS wouldn't even light up which had to d with the driver as I recall expecting X voltage. The only way to know is to simply test it out & see what happens Don't forget also that most LEDS won't change colors like a typical light will

They may not be adaptable because of the age of your switches. It would be your best bet to speak to a qualified electrician.

Thank you both for responding so quickly. We will go ahead and buy the bulbs and see what happens.

    Look for led dimmable bulbs.

NO...... We had a dimmer installed,,,, not thinking about that same thing.. then purchased a new fixture 2 months later and were told,, either get a different fixture or get a new dimmer..I can say the new bulbs blow out really fast in old fixtures.. I replaced 15-20 bulbs in less than 6 months.. stopped the LED and compact flour. ones,, back to old fashioned incandescent haven't blown a bulb in 7 months since !
