Very stubborn soap scum and calcium on shower doors

Question

I used vinegar and baking soda, Brillo,  CLR, nothing! What can I use?

I had the same problem years ago. My son asked the chemist with whom he worked how to solve this problem: Scrubbing Bubbles cleaner. Spray on, go do something else while it works awhile, use a green scrubby or a brush which won't scratch the surface - it should come off like magic. The key is to break the surface tension of the soap scum. Now I also use fabric softener sheets or liquid fabric softener on a sponge if I am out of the Bubbles cleaner. Shower/tub looks great! Try kaboom.I am surprised the CLR did not work.I would leave the products on for awhile before you wash them off.

I had a great deal of luck with a product called 'Hawaii Clean' or try Norwex Descaler. Both products will have to be ordered online as they are not in stores.

I have a very old porilain bathtub that was in a house I bought. Everyone said it was to stained from years of use to just replace it. Of course I wouldn't do that because of the beautiful lines it has. Soooooo, like you, I tried everything on the market and nothing worked. Then, looking again in the Home Depot cleaner section I found this: PUMIE HEAVY DUTY SOURING STICK' It comes in a red, white, and blue box and cleans alot of surfaces, so I tried it. (my last hope, never heard of it before) IT WORKED, HURRAY. Friends couldn't believe the tub, they were shocked. I used 3 boxes and you have to keep it wet. It is a pomice block, so don't use it daily for normal cleaning, just in situations like mine. good luck

The trick with the vinegar may be making sure you let it is sit and soak, 5 minutes or so. At my house we are big fans of the Kaboom line of products (that Janet mentioned above). Drill mounted foam cleaning pads may be an option (use with care), but I usually find a small dose elbow grease always does the trick. To avoid the issue in the future - shower squeegee after each shower. Good luck.

kaboom or awsome work well on a lot of the set in stains I have cleaned around the house
Vinegar will remove soap scum but it does have to sit for awhile sometimes, covered like so you might spray it and then cover with a plastic shower curtin or throw cloth

Friend bought a home - shower and tub area had same mess. Used liquid detergent,,warm water and fine steel wool. Looked like new. Use steel wool on my outer windows to remove mineral deposits. Does not scratch.

I agree with the advice to let any cleaner you are using sit and soak for awhile. Have patience and after you apply it, let it sit, perhaps even for an entire hour. You may find that the vinegar or other homemade solutions will then give you some better results. Let any store bought cleaner sit and soak for a little bit too for the best cleaning results.

dish liquid for hand washing dishes and micro fiber cloths . i have also used the very cheapest liquid toilet bowl squirt in cleaner , and also Liquid African Black Soap , which worked the best and was organic and had no noxious smells and I could scrub my tub and shower in the nude either before or after showering . no scratches or change in the finish on any of the doors or the fiberglass tub

Hi the best way to clean a shower door is to use very fine dry steel wool, it will take all the dried soap off, have fun before you shower and clean that door in the easy way
