I am having problems with the door on my Fridgeaire front loading washing machine not locking, so it will not operate.

Has anyone else had this problem, and can it be eleviated by me or di I need to call a repair person? Any tips will be greatly appreciated!

There are all sorts of latches on front loaders. Most have electrical lock switches that keep the door closed and some just a simple spring type. Can you find the model number on the door edge and let us know what it is. With that we may be able to assist you more. In any case, most likely unless your willing to remove the front of the cabinet your going to need a professional to make the repair. In the meantime at least we may be able to let you know what perhaps your in for to get it fixed. But without the model number cannot help.

Stating the obvious here but if Frigidare has a help line you might give them a call. Maybe they've run into this problem in the past.

One more suggestion since is would likely be an electric lock. Have you tried unplugging the machine and plugging it back in to see if it will reset and is there any error code?
