DIY Unfinished Wide Pine Floors

Medium
It has been over a year since we started laying our wide pine floors in Tucker's room and our master bedroom so I thought it was about time to post about installing them ourselves:). Come check out what we did!
Jason and I loved the idea of adding hardwood floors to our old farmhouse to give it more character and have it be more kid friendly than the dirty white carpet that was here to begin with.
Here's a pic of what our floors looked like last Christmas before we tackled adding wood floors to the room.
We had our whole family involved in pulling up the old carpet and getting those pesky staples out. Our kids will do anything for pizza :).
After the floors were prepped the step was to start laying those wide pine boards. To see more step by step pictures of how we laid our unfinished wide pine floors and for more detailed instructions click on the link below and it will take you to my blog, Lehman lane.

*Because these floor boards are white pine they are softer than oak or heart pine would be. It is a little easier to mark up the floor when moving furniture around if you are not careful but we are OK with that because we wanted the floors to look like they had been here all along (we live in a century old farmhouse)*

These floors turned out so lovely! I want to replace the flooring in our c. 1873 farmhouse with this period appropriate flooring, as you did, but we don't have subfloor, just cheap and inappropriate narrow planks that are breaking at the knots. Any suggestions?

May I ask the room size and estimated total cost? Deciding if I can do this for our living room. It's lovely!
