How To Make A Fresh Wreath For Free

I recently decided to make a Fresh Wreath. There were a few of reasons for this.
1. I had never made one and wanted to try something new.
2. It was a spare of the moment thing that popped into my head while I was having a coffee during my kids nap time.
And lastly because I had been purchasing lots of craft items and it had gotten very expensive and I just wanted to make something that didn't cost me a cent!

I love nature. Who doesn't? But I really love watching the seasons change, I'm always on the look out for what new plants are in bloom as I take my two little ones on our daily walk. I'm by no means a hippy but I just love watching the leaves, flowers, trees and the sky.

This project was perfect for me because I got to incorporate two of my favourite things in the life. Nature and creating.

I highly recommend making something like this now, especially as the weather is becoming quite cold as your wreath will last a good couple of weeks!

What you will need to make a Nature Wreath:

Craft Scissors

Plant Scissors

Floral Wire

Burlap Ribbon or you can do what I did and cut a long thick piece of burlap material and make it into a bow so it's nigh and big and thick.

Go around your garden and collect as many beautiful items that you want. You don't have to just use foliage. You can use sticks, feathers, moss, rocks, twigs, sticks. Use your imagination, experiment and play around until you're happy with what you see.

The first step is to create a circle. I chose think, flexible branches that where strong to create the strength and structure of my wreath.

Use your florist wire to tie your branches together. Just wrap the wire around the branches you are trying to join, twist a few times and wrap again to really secure the wreath.

I then continued to add to this by mixing in other plants, berries, green, yellow and red foliage. I wanted it thick and lush so I kept adding and using different sized leaves to create volume.

Finally, make a large bow tie with your burlap material or ribbon of choice.

Use your florist wire to secure the bow tie on to your wreath and you're all done. You have a beautiful Nature Wreath to display on your front door and it cost you NOTHING!!! ;)
