Cooks Corner - A Repurposed Wood Project.

I found this broken chair back at my local green dump and quickly swooped it up, I figured I could at least use the spindles for something! What I came up with used way more than just the spindles!!
Can you believe that this awesome cookbook/Ipad/Recipe holder was made out of that broken chair back, a piece of pegboard and part of a 2' x 4'?
I started by taking apart the chair back, then I layed the spindles next to the pegboard and marked on the pegboard where the slots on the spindles hit so I could cut out tabs.
Next I slipped those tabs that I cut out with a jigsaw into the two lower slots on the spindles and put one of the chair braces back into the top slots.
Then I set the assembled piece on top of my base piece and marked the spindle placement. I used a spade bit to drill about 1" down into the base.
I set the middle brace that I had on top of the base piece and traced the shape and cut it out with a jigsaw. Then attached the brace to the front of the base.
After the base was cut out, I put some glue in the holes I had drilled and set the spindles into the holes. All that was left was to add some pegs, dowels and eye hooks for my accessories.
I painted it with chalk paint so I didn't have to sand anything and then dry brushed a darker color on top to give it some dimension,
I added a clipboard clip for paper recipes too!

Fun project! But my eye really was caught by those pale green measuring spoons on the left side. Could you share the manufacturer if there is one listed? Really really charming!

So very creative. Wish I had the experience with wood working, the tools, the little dowels and so forth to even imagine doing this. I only took sewing, not shop! But on another note, I'd like to get to your blog, but the link doesn't really get me there. Are you private? Thanks! -- Louise
