DIY Stacked Wood and Moss Slice Christmas Ornament

Hey y'all...I think you know our love affair with wood and moss for this Christmas season decor. Did you see Jenn's amazing Wood Slice Christmas Trees yesterday? They are super cute.
She and I have been on the same wavelength with our creativity lately. While she was creating her trees, I was creating some Christmas ornaments. We are so excited to be participating in a Merry Christmas Ornament Hop with 16 other bloggers! Part of us are participating today and the rest of our group will be posting tomorrow. For our ornament I knew exactly what I wanted to craft. I dreamt up this idea several weeks ago and it all started with this collection of twigs and branches...
Yes, I'm a big weirdo that collects things like this. But before you laugh you need to know something. I had this displayed in our antique booth as decoration - not for sale - and someone offered to buy it for $45! So I know I'm not alone in my adoration and appreciation for branches! I've collected these over time from my backyard and walks in the woods at the lake.
I used my garden limb loppers and set to work. In short order I had all of these mini slices...

I hot glued the mini stacks together and added little tufts of reindeer moss. I also glued star anise to the top of each stack as the "star" of the tree...and it smells wonderfully fragrant!
They look so cute grouped together on the tree.

    Why stop with the star anise when you can add cinnamon, cloves, dried citrus and other dreamy natural scents and make a mulled X-mas tree?
