It's amazing what you can do with a 2x4, some pain and some vinyl. These 2x4 Christmas decoration is one of my favorite decorations that I have ever made. They are so easy to make, inexpensive and they look so great on a mantle or a porch!
The first thing you do is cut the wood. I used a 2x2 for the tree and cut them 2", 3", 4" and another one 2". I painted three of them green and then one brown. Then I put some patterned green vinyl, glued them together with wood glue and put on a wooden star.
For the cute snowman, I just painted it white and added a face and buttons out of vinyl. Then using a scrap piece of fleece I made a cute scarf.
To finish the snowman, I added a little hat. You will be surprised what I made it out of (you'll have to check the full tutorial to see it!).
For the little reindeer, I painted the wood brown and added the face in vinyl. Then I used some popsicle sticks and made some antlers. For the penguin I just painted the wood black and put on a vinyl face and body.
I cut the base piece out of a 2x4, painted it red and then put the words on it in vinyl.
Then I glued all of the characters onto the base piece, screwed them in from the bottom of the base piece and then put it onto my porch. And that's it!! Told you it was super easy and cute :). For complete details and measurements, check out the full tutorial on my blog.
