My 1980's Dining Room Re-Do

When I purchased my 1980's ranch style home, the dining room was in need of a design overhaul. Luckily, we were able to bring a dark, outdated dinging room into the 21st century with light grey paint, new ceilings and a modern light fixture.
See how bright the space is now? And yes, I am aware that a candle is missing from one of my sconces. This is the reality of living in a home full of boys...anything and everything is bound for destruction.

To truly appreciate the transformation of this room, you must take a look at the room when we first moved in.
Between the popcorn ceiling, border wall paper and hunter green paint, the room was nothing but dingy and outdated. First, we removed the lovely border and painted the walls in a light gray (check out my website to see the name of the color). We then replaced the light fixture with this capiz chandelier ( I disclose the source on my site).
I added some pops of color to the room with my favorite hue of all time...turquoise!! But still, I was not getting the results that I desired. That's when I talked my husband into installing beadboard planking on the ceiling to cover the existing texture.
Once the shiny. white beadboard ceiling was up, everything really fell into place. The room came together after months of tweaking and agonizing. For more details and a source list, you can visit my site.

your room is lovely. I have a totally crazy question, this looks like the dining table from rooms to go, if it is, how do you like it? I am considering it, but unsure if it is big enough to sit 6? Its a bit smaller than other tables I have seen. any feedback? TIA

What a wonderful transformation. Never give up on an old house and if it has good bones, then a little paint and imagination will win out. Such a fresh and bright room and I'd love to eat a muffin and some coffee at that table!
