Squeeky floor near several heater vents, 1998 double-wide?

When we walk near the floor registers for a forced air house-hold heater in our 1998 double wide manufactured home, there is a lot of squeaking. The underside is insulated and then up-draped with black plastic, ick. I HATE crawling under the house. It is on a permanent block foundation and only room to crawl down there. I am in the process of face-lifting the inside, I have tiled one bathroom floor and plan to do the other, but want to snap and float wood like flooring in living, dining and kitchen, but the can I fix the squeak from the top?

You can not fix from top. It is caused by cracked or worn floor joist. Back in the 80's I had exact problem. Sadly you have to go through the floor or go under to fix.

I had same issue underneath, so we put screws in sub-floor from above---It took a lot of squeak out........

Squeeky floors are caused by gaps between joist and the subfloor riding up and down on the shaft of a nail. If you can figure out which way your floor joists are running you may be able to run a couple screws through the flooring and draw down the subfloor to the joist. There are actually screws made for this. The heads will break off under a certain level of torque. This isn't much required if you have a carpeting in which the screw head can penetrate. In the case of vinyl or other floor covering, you might want to look for these screws on line or your haardware store. To find the joist, remove the floor vent and gently pull around the edges to see if one side is attached to a joist. This should be fairly simple. Do some measuring, and follow the joist in the direction of the squeek. One screw on either side should be enough to secure your subfloor. Good luck!

Mobile homes are down draft. Ductwork is often leaks. In the summer months the cool air condenses on anything metal or saturates the subfloor. Causing it to expand and deteriorate. The squeak will come from deteriorated material fluctuating

@Todd What cool air, we live in high desert with roof top swamp cooler for 90's days and the underfloor vents are closed. Under house is closer to mid 70's

Try McFeelys "Squeak no more" break off screws. Home Depot is carrying a similar product to McFeelys.
