Headboard to Planter Box

A full size headboard and footboard were on its way to the dump before I snatched it up. I KNEW there was still something precious just waiting to be reborn. A friend suggested i turn it into a planter box and away to work we went!

The headboard is completely intact as the back piece, just shortened the legs a bit. The sides and legs originally belonged to the footboard. Just a new piece of wood for the front and bottom of the planter and the box is ready for a fresh coat of paint.

I added a red exterior paint and loved the way the old characteristics of the headboard shone through without any distressing at all!

In the sun it's a fiery hot red piece that will brighten up any space.

Here she is in her new home all dressed up for the Christmas celebrations!!! How do you like it?

You did a beautiful job! I have always wondered what do you line a box like this for real flowers so the water doesn't ruin the box?
